Report It

As with all crimes, it is important to report suspicions of modern slavery to the police, or safeguarding concerns with support services. There are a few ways you can do this.

In the UK

If there is an emergency and you or someone are in immediate danger, call 999. Do not attempt to intervene yourself - you may put yourself and others in danger, including the potential victim.

To report any non-emergency suspicions, call your local police on 101, the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Alternatively, you can report your concerns online on the Crimestoppers website or Modern Slavery Helpline website. They will then pass the information on to the Police or relevant agency. You can remain anonymous.

Church-related concerns

Having done this, if you are on church property or if your concerns relate to something or someone connected to your church or church project, get in touch with your Parish Safeguarding Officer. There is usually a photo of your Parish Safeguarding Officer in your church building.

In Europe

If you are based in Europe, there are a number of different helpline numbers. Click here to access a list of European helpline numbers. You can also always call 112 - the European emergency phone number, available everywhere in the EU, free of charge.

Globally

There is a map with national trafficking and exploitation helplines here: Make a Report.

You should report to the country in which the victim is observed, no matter their nationality or exploitation history.
