The Team

We have a board of trustees and the support of Episcopal patrons.
Our board of trustees is made up of Bishop Alastair Redfern (Chair), Chris Elliott, Gillian Rivers and Tatiana Gren-Jardan. They come to us with a range of professional experiences and contributions to tackling modern slavery.
We have a number of Church of England bishops from around the country who agreed to be our patrons, including the Bishops of Dover, Chelmsford, Tonbridge, Southwark and Penrith.
Our director
Lois Bosatta is the Director of The Clewer Initiative. She came from the University of Nottingham’s Rights Lab where she has been the Head of Business Development and Partnerships for the last four years. In this role, she focused on research delivery, partnership development, fundraising and impact. Prior to that, Lois completed the University of Nottingham’s Masters in Slavery and Liberation.
Lois’ passion for fighting modern slavery and human trafficking began in 2012 when she became aware of the work of various anti-trafficking organisations and activists through a documentary shown at her student church. Since then, she has pursued knowledge, experience and commitment to this cause, motivated by her personal faith. This has included active leadership in missional community projects, street outreach and family support with survivors of slavery. More recently, she has supported the work of Adavu, a post-NRM survivor support charity founded by the Methodist church, becoming a trustee in 2023.
Ayshea Cross - National Projects Officer
Ayshea is a passionate community leader and project coordinator with extensive experience building networks, engaging volunteers, and running day-to-day operations in the faith and charitable sector.
As National Projects Officer, she oversees and supports the Clewer network of volunteers, colleagues and anti-slavery ambassadors, helping to raise awareness amongst the wider church and faith communities. She also supports Lois on national projects including monitoring and coordinating the Safe Car Wash App's working group and helping with the overall, day-to-day running of The Clewer Initiative.
Before joining The Clewer Initiative, Ayshea was the Strategic Lead Officer at Transforming Plymouth Together (TPT), a joint project with the Diocese of Exeter and the Church Urban Fund, equipping and enabling churches and faith communities to address poverty and inequality across Plymouth. At TPT, Ayshea led community initiatives and volunteer-led responses and built a strong partnership between churches, faith organisations, local authorities and community businesses.
